Not before we understand the piece. Once motif, placement and size are settled, your artist gives you a clear figure and an estimate of how many sessions it takes, so you know what you are agreeing to before anything is booked.
Most people find it manageable, and much depends on placement. Ribs and inner arms ask more of you than a forearm or a calf. Your artist will tell you what to expect for your piece and will break the session whenever you need a pause.
You leave the studio with written aftercare and someone to ask. The first two weeks carry the result: keep it clean, keep it out of the sun, and let it settle without picking. We check in afterwards and touch up anything that has not healed the way it should.
